August Meeting Summary
Respectfully submitted by,
Lu Parsons
It was HOT!!! The day was steamy and fans were added to supplement the air conditioning at the Quarter Bistro but the crowd that came including a couple of new members were delighted to be in attendance. This was another great WBO meeting with a dynamic speaker who made us laugh, reflect and chuckle with her experiences.
Carol M or Carol Mastroianni, MBA, Happiness Coach, has a tag line that says" Great days are an inside job!" Her topic was" Rethinking Balance from the Inside Out" .We all have read and heard how important balance is and how we should strive for balance in our lives. (I sometimes think this creates more stress. Personal note). Needless to say some imbalance is caused by our own lack of organization and panic attack vs planning and anticipating possible scenarios. Carol provided a hand out that was called a Behavioral Change Action Guide. There are 6 steps outlined in this guide to walk us through the process of making changes to our behavior. Those are as follows: Identify, Explore, Set goals, Plan, Evaluate and Celebrate.
The key to balance is what goes on inside of us. Carol suggested these 8 internal items to deal with imbalance and move forward:
Breathe
Positive self-talk
Honor your emotions
Release and let go- push away negatives
Be present in the moment
Acceptance- it is what it is
DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECTION
Remember we/I have a choice.
Many thanks to Carol for her inspiring words of wisdom we can all use each day. |
