Greetings!
I’m so thrilled to be leading such a dynamic group of
women this year through WBO. I hope that you all
know how fantastic you are-- particularly if you are
meeting regulars! This year, we will be making the
organization even better with more business
opportunities. How is that possible you ask?
- First,
we are expanding our networking invitations. We will
be doing more networking and BETTER networking.
- In April we will host our first Meet and
Eat. This
is a
fun, exciting networking event, which is an addition
to our regular meeting.
- Our fall networking event
is a
wine tour with Majestic Coach. We will be
touring
several local wineries, and sharing time and fun with
other WBO members-fantastic! We hope that
getting to know members and their businesses better
will expand referral opportunities.
- The launch of this monthly newsletter
allows us to recap and share information with
members and friends.
Take advantage of this new tool, and be sure to
submit information for publication. READ the
newsletter and support other WBO members. You’ll
be surprised how quickly your own business will grow,
if you support other WBO businesses!
- The
newsletter will also allow
members to highlight upcoming events which help
market our members businesses.
- Lastly, we have a wonderful new educational
opportunity called the Business Challenge of the
Month. At each monthly meeting a business
expert
will present information on what we can do to make
each of our businesses function better. Then the
gauntlet is laid down, and members are challenged to
make the necessary changes or complete the
assigned exercises by the following meeting. If you
feel you could improve your business
practices, but aren’t sure where to start, this section
of our program is for you!
As always we have a wonderful array of speakers
lined up, on a variety of topics making attendance at
the monthly meeting beneficial and sure to keep you
energized and enthusiastic about your own business
challenges.
On behalf of the entire WBO, I invite you again to
attend our meetings, meet other dynamic business
women and learn more about the world of business!

Think Big, Act Now was the theme of the
talk given by Manya Arond-Thomas at our February
WBO meeting.
A dynamic and thought provoking speaker, Dr. Arond-
Thomas' talk was based on her 25 years experience
in team and organzational development.
The premise behind most of the talk was the fact
that women create their own "internal glass
ceiling". Ambition is an emotionally charged
word,
with negative connotations for women, who
inherently
find this in opposition to feminine norms. While men
actively promote themselves, women will give up
recognition, share kudos, and downplay thier
contributions. So, we have to be aware of this, and
become more
assertive and follow through (100% of the way)!
Successful women have developed self-awareness
and are willing to invest in their personal
development. They work toward Mastery and
Recognition. Dr. Arond-Thomas has developed her "7
Critical
Success Factors to Realize Your Dreams" based on
this reality.
1- Development of a special skill or
talent.
2- Create spheres of recognition for
yourself. Identify and develop situations to
provide affirmation for yourself; means to get
recognition for your skill and or talent.
3- Blow your own horn. You need to
become your best PR person.
4- Have a clear vision of what you really
want. You need a clear and compelling vision;
you have to know where you want to go in order to
get there.
5- Step out of your comfort zone-- take risks!
Most women do not dream big enough. We
have learned to be "good girls" and stay in our own
comfort zone. We need to step out of that comfort
zone and take those risks.
6- Set goals and make decisions. You can't
be
complacent; have to stay on the growth edge.
7. FOLLOW THROUGH!

According to the American Heart Association, heart
disease is the number one killer of women in the
United States. Additionally, osteoporosis is a
debilitating disease that affects most pre-
menopausal
women. Both of these diseases can be avoided with
a regular routine of exercise and proper nutrition.
Specifically, doctors recommend that women include
weight lifting in their walking, swimming or other
activities to build bone density and to avoid heart
disease.
Contours Express member, Barbara H., age 63,
recently gave the following testimonial: Prior to
working out at Contours Express she was “over the
line”, or in the beginning stages of osteoporosis.
After working out at Contours Express for two years,
she is now “under the line” and has no signs of the
disease! Another member, Carol S., age 53, suffered
from severe arthritis in her hip, so bad that she was
unable to walk to her mailbox. After only 3 weeks of
working out at Contours Express, Carol reports that
she is not only able to walk to her mailbox, but down
the street and around the block!
Contours success stories abound! Women report
having more energy, sleeping more restfully, improved
sex lives, being able to lift grandchildren, in addition
to losing weight and toning muscle. Eighty-three
year old member, Wanda L. exclaims that she can
get down on the floor to play with her grandchildren
and get back up again! In fact, Contours Express
members collectively lost 963 pounds last year!
Women Business Owner’s members and their friends
can enjoy a no obligation two week free membership
at the Contours Express location owned by WBO
