To WBO Members and Guests,
We welcome you to continue to join us in 2010 as we set off on a journey as a group of individuals supporting, networking and learning together. When I first found out about WBO in 2007 I was so excited to learn about an organization made up of only women. I wanted to connect with other individuals who could really relate to not only my approach to business, but also understanding the reality of balancing the many roles we have (or are expected of us) as women. I found a great resource here. Since I have been attending meetings I've made great connections with women who were also balancing life, and the group seemed to have a general bond as a whole.
I could feel that connection at our monthly January meeting as I looked down the big long table we had set up in the Red Room at Quarter Bistro. As we shared about our goals for 2010, many of us nodded in agreement as we talked about making sure to take care of ourselves before business, family and other responsibilities. By analyzing what might stop us from actually doing it, we created a game plan to fulfill on our goal. I personally walked away with an action list to get started with. I hope all of you who came did as well! Let's have 2010 be a year where dreams and goals are fulfilled. By starting off the year with a conversation about how to keep ourselves on track, let's support each other in doing it!
As the new president in 2010, my goal is to continue to make available the benefits of WBO for as many women business owners as possible. For those who are just starting, who benefit from the wisdom of our speakers, to those of you who have been in business for years and want to be around others who have as well. We welcome you!
Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you to make your WBO experience great.
All my best,
Theresia Radtke
2010 WBO President

| January Meeting Summary:
Goal Setting for Success
An exciting year for WBO began Tuesday night, January 12, 2010 at our new location, The Quarter Bistro. The location at the corner of North Maple and Stadium, just east of Jackson Road exit of I-94 proved to be convenient and the light hor dourves were welcomed and delicious. An enthusiastic group of women including 9 guests heard great presentations by the evening sponsor, Sally Schmall of Academy Coaching on Seven Ways to Maximize Your Networking at Professional Meetings and then the main presentation by Michelle Seyfarth of Seyfarth Diversified Strategies was on Goal Setting for Success.
The handouts from each presenter are items to keep and refer to as the year progress and each New Year's Resolution is considered. Michelle challenged us to think about our attitude and W>H>Y> S>M>A>R>T> Goals . Eight steps were given to setting goals and accomplishing them. It was a great way to start the year and the discussion and interaction between attendees should inspire all of those present to accomplish much in 2010. Many, many thanks to Sally and Michelle.

Analysis/SCORE Support
Muriel Converse has been a SCORE counselor for almost eight years. SCORE, known as Counselors to America's Small Businesses' is a volunteer organization under the SBA that provides free, confidential business counseling to small and new businesses.
Before becoming a SCORE counselor, Muriel spent many years as a researcher at the University of Michigan's Survey Research Center. Looking for a new challenge, she decided to branch out into the business world and started a company, MRA Inc., focused on providing academic-quality survey-based research for the commercial sector.
MRA's clients were mostly in the automotive sector. It's primary work entailed designing, managing, maintaining and providing dealer and management reports for Chevrolet's Customer Satisfaction Survey Program. In addition, it specialized in customer satisfaction research and program evaluations. |
